This is my Pechakucha presentation for my upcoming FMP project based on transformation. In this presentation, I was talking about different magazines and just basically explain about my decisions about what I am planning to do for my project which is to create a magazine based on the stages of how a frog transforms into a tadpole. Overall I think it went quite well as I received some positive feeback for example I had a clear voice and explained every slide in good detail, I also explained everything clearly and to the point and my words and lines were also excellent and some of the facts as well for example the football slide as well where I had a MOTD (Match of the Day) magazine and the Week Junior which is also another type of magazine as well was quite interesting as well. However some of the suggestions I received and possibly could have improved on was to possibly add a picture in every slide and to add a picture and to also make it bigger as well so that it covers the slide in detail. As a whole, I definitely feel quite pleased and happy with how it went overall as I think I was able to provide a sufficient explanation of my slides and I also looked at the camera a lot as well especially when I was presenting. Another thing I could work on is trying not to stutter afterwards but overall I'm quite happy.
Here's the feedback I received from my Pechakucha. I think that overall, some of it was quite helpful and I know that I can definitely take it on board as well. However, there is also room for improvement as well for example, for every slide, I can add a picture and also make it big as well so that it covers the slide. One other thing to take on board is that it was also simple and bland due to the images, however, I still explained everything clearly.

This was my first start on my FMP. Originally, I was going to use Canva but was then advised to use InDesign instead because its more professional and I found it easier to use than Canva.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF NATURE
MAGAZINE
Hello and welcome to the world of nature. In this magazine, I will be exploring range of nature topics.
In this issue, we will show the transformation of a tadpole to a frog.
To illustrate this, here is a visual graphic showing the life cycle of a frog:
TRANSFORMATION
1. A frog begins its life as an egg which is also known as frogspawn. Frogspawn are usually laid in the water.
2. At the next stage, we have what’s called hatching. This image shows how the eggs would hatch into tadpoles which are known as aquatic larvae.
I then went into a bit more depth of my research as I was going to use InDesign for my magazine but I made a proper start with it at home and all the research I had done was on Google Docs just to show that I had made a good start on it despite me not using Adobe InDesign which I don't have access to at home. By the way, I had done more to this but I only put this in just to give a brief idea of what I did.
Building on from the work I did on Google Docs, I then used the work I had done there and put it on a powerpoint so I made a slideshow explaining about the different steps required for a tadpole to turn into a frog and then at the end, I made an unscramble where I put down some different terms and then after that, I put a wordsearch together as well. However, the feedback I received from my teacher when I showed it to her was that it was a bit junior school like and that it needed some improvement.
I then took some pictures from different magazines I have at home and just paid attention on the animals and environment page in particular as this is the type of layout I was going to follow for my magazine. In order to do a magazine, I had to ensure that when I was creating the design on Adobe InDesign that I was using columns that were going vertically down and I also had to have different page numbers as well to signify which page is which.
Editorial
Hello and welcome to the World of Nature. In this magazine, we will be exploring a range of nature topics.
In this issue, we will have a special feature on transformation and will be learning about this process through the life cycle of a frog.
Tadpole Transformation
Frogs undergo a remarkable transformation as they develop from eggs to adult frogs. This process involves several distinct stages in different environments.
So how does life begin?
A frog begins its life as an egg (also known as frogspawn). Frogspawn are usually laid in clusters in the water by the female frog during a period of several days up to a few weeks depending on the temperature. Frogspawn look like tiny black dots (embryos) surrounded by a jelly-like substance.
After the frogspawn develop in the water, hatching takes place over a period of one to three weeks. The newly-hatched tadpoles have gills, a long tail and no legs. They feed on algae and plant material.
As the tadpoles get bigger in size, they develop a tail remnant and begin to grow hind limbs. At this stage, the tadpoles use their gills for breathing.
During the metamorphic stage, the tadpole has transformed into a froglet, having grown a stronger tail and fully formed hind and front legs. Instead of using their gills to breathe, they begin using their lungs. Their diet also changes and they switch from being herbivores, eating algae and plant material, to carnivores, eating small insects.
Finally, after approximately fourteen weeks, the froglet becomes an adult frog! Its body has formed fully and it no longer has a tail. It has an amphibious habitat - which means it lives in both the water and on land. The diet of an adult frog includes: insects, worms and other small creatures
UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT FROGS AT RISK
Like many species facing threats of extinction, frogs are generally considered to be at risk, Amphibians, including frogs, are among the most threatened vertebrates on Earth. According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), about 41% of amphibian species are at risk of extinction.
There are many factors causing this. To begin with, they are experiencing habitat loss as human activities such as deforestation, agriculture, and urban development destroy or fragment frog habitats, leading to population declines. Climate Change (changing weather patterns and increasing temperatures) disrupts frog breeding cycles and impacts their ability to survive in certain areas. Diseases, for example, the chytrid fungus that infects frogs' skin, has been a major cause of decline and extinction for many frog species. Competition with invasive species, certain fish and plants, are also impacting their populations. Finally, chemical pollutants in water and soil can harm frogs' delicate skin and reproductive systems.
While the situation is concerning, efforts are being made to protect frogs and other amphibians. Conservation groups are working to preserve habitats, manage invasive species, and address the threats of climate change and pollutio
I then did some work on the content and also followed the structure that I had worked on at home and also included some sub headings as well so that it is clear to anyone who's looking at it afterwards to see as well. I also got a little bit of help with the content but tried to make it look neat with how I organised it with the structure and format.
I then went down to my local pond to do some research and take some pictures. Unfortunately, the aim of going was to try and spot some frogs and tadpoles around there but I wasn't able to find any. However, I was able to get some good pictures of their habitat and just the nature around them as well.
I then used one of the images from the pictures I took by the pond as my main cover and then used images and content to write up the magazine. I had to make sure that everything I had written ie the content made sense and I also had to make sure that I was also clear in what I was talking about as well.
Using my template from the picture above, I used what I had there to put on Adobe InDesign and had to organise the layout with columns and images in order to make it look neat and presentable. It took a lot of time with it and I struggled at times as well with doing the research and some other things but once I used the layout that I had created, I was fine in the end with it and then in the end, I used my layout that I had done at home just to put on InDesign with the content and the images and therefore this is how I ended up with this design which was also my final design in the end.
I took as much time as possible so that it looked like I made an effort with it. I really struggled especially around the beginning as I was having difficulties with some of the research I was doing. Once I had all the research and content, I was using that to create my magazine which I have to say am quite pleased with overall with how it turned out. Although I struggled with some parts like the research and the layout and format of the magazine, overall it was a good job though. As part of my research, for my front cover image, I went to Fryent country park to take some pictures for my front cover image and ended up using one of them in the end. One thing I could have done to improve is to add some captions under my images as this would be very common in magazines to see captions under the image. t
