What is transformation? 

Transformation is a change in appearance and character of something or someone specifically so that that thing or person is improved.  For example, you can have transformation in so many different things such as stories, films ie superheroes and also nature as well.  Sometimes it's not always easy to notice transformation because it can happen so quickly for example, if you're on stage in a performance and a scene has ended and you know that your character is in the next scene as well and you also know that it isn't a long wait then you have to go backstage as quickly as possible and then have a very quick costume change and then come back on ready for the next scene, that's also another example of transformation because you're changing very quickly from one thing to another.

  Here is an example of transformation in different ways.  These images symbolise how transformation can become quite different.  Transformation also has so many different effects for example rotation, this is where the image rotates or turns the image around on an axis.  There is also reflection.  Transformation also has so many different effects as well for example rotation, this is where the image rotates and also turns the images around on an axis.  Another example is reflection, this is where the actual image flips the pre image and produces the mirror image.  Another example as well is translation.  This is where the image slides or also moves the pre image.  Below is a mindmap of different images I came up with to do with transformation.

First thoughts on Transformation

My first thoughts on transformation are that it is quite intriguing to be able to understand how these things work is very interesting to know how one thing can transform into another so quickly for example in one of the images above the tiger jumping transforms from the black and white to the black and orange very immediate as soon as it jumps through the hole.  Another example is where the young boy transforms from himself to then transforming into making him look very evil as well.  I also think transformation is quite cool as well because generally its not always easy to tell where transformation is so therefore it is also quite cool as well.  It's also quite amazing to see the transition of how something would change especially in art.  It also catches your eyes to see how something so small for example in one of the images above there's a picture of a girl and the way she transforms from being so small to being tall as well.  However overall in my opinion I feel it's amazing to see how the size changes so quickly even in different objects as well.  Overall in my opinion my first thoughts of transformation are that it is incredible as well because its just so amazing to see how little things can make a difference as well.

Transformation is also quite clever as well especially when you're on stage especially a costume change as it is very fast and snappy and it the audience don't have to wait for long either they can just sit through and enjoy the show without having to wait for so long as well.

I thought of a logo (Apple) and a tiger who was originally in black and white to then jumping through the hole to become itself again.

I chose this because the logo changes in appearance to make it appealing.

A vox pop would usually last about 4 to 5 seconds otherwise the viewers would be quite bored if it lasts too long. 

3. List two pros and two cons in terms of Vox Pops (see Vox Pops slide show) 

One pro is that vox pops can generally be a highly effective way to test the public opinion and mood.  Another pro is that it is also very good at being able to tell you how people answer certain questions. 

However, one disadvantage is that they would generally sometimes ask a lot of questions and generally most people wouldn’t always enjoy answering lots of questions.  Another thing is that people would have lots of things to do like go to work or drop their kids at school and the last thing they would want to do is be asked a lot of questions and therefore this would delay them as well.

Describe the quality of the audio	The quality of the audio was great as I was able to hear everyone’s answers quite clearly and they also spoke at a good volume as well.

You’re your reasons for your rating	The reason why I’d say it was good is because there was quite a lot of background noise and when you’re talking to someone and you’re asking them a question you just want to be focusing on them and nothing else around them.

Describe the quality of the audio and video	I think the quality of the audio and video was great.

Are the questions relevant?	Yes I think they are as they relate to the main topic of the video which is to do with the UK’s most popular phone network?

You’re your reasons for your rating	The quality of the dialogue was at a good volume and I was also able to catch what they all said as well.  One thing I’d improve for next time is the distractions and the location as well because for example there were a lot of members of the public walking around and one man waved as well and sometimes it can also be distracting for someone who’s being interviewed.

 

Other than the sound what do you think makes for poor quality video Vox Pop?  

I think one other thing that makes poor quality video of Vox pop is the location because there can be people walking around and if they see a camera and people standing in front of it they can easily be distracted by it which can also put them off as well.  One more thing is that because so many different members of the public tend to be in different areas, there are so many interesting people around the public so you never know what their reaction might be, and even if that happens the person or multiple of people or even whoever are being interviewed need to make sure they’re focused and also need to make sure they answer the questions sensibly and properly and don’t just start talking about something else that makes no sense.

I think I can use a vox pop for my research as it will come in handy for whatever I am assigned to complete next.

Contextual analysis - Transformers The Last Knight 19/3/25

Transformers The Last Knight was made in 2017.  It was made by the director Michael Bay.  It was produced by the studio Dreamworks Productions and the producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.  The artist was Sebastian Schroder.  Transformers The Last Knight talks about Merlin who was a drunkard womanizer and charlatan in Camelot.  There was some point in the past where he met with the Knights of lacon that stranded on the Earth in the ancient times and was later on known as the Staff of Merlin to keep it a secret.  

This tells a story because in the present day, following the different events of Hong Kong, Optimus Prime, who is the main protagonist of the Transformers franchise.  arrives on the ruin of Cybertron and also meets the Cybertronian goddess Quintessa who actually brainwashes him into becoming Nemesis Prime and also sends him to Earth to retrieve Merlin's staff which will then restore Cybertron by taking Earth's energy core. 

In Transformers The Last Knight, the character Megatron who's played by Frank Welker was currently the leader of the Decepticons later on transforms into a Cybertronian jet.  I would describe the transformation as sudden because although I don't know a lot about the story, I know that the character Megatron who was originally the leader of the Decepticons transforming into a jet which to me sounds like there might be a twist in the plot so therefore that's why I think it's a sudden change. 

 The transformation that takes place in the film is in appearance of the character Megatron who changes at some point in the film from being the leader to then becoming a jet.  In my opinion the thing that I find the most interesting is the way how Megatron suddenly changes from being the leader of the Deceptions to then becoming a Cybertronian jet because generally when you're watching a film, you never know what will happen next but all you can do is interpret what will happen next by watching the film. 

 However, the part I find the least interesting even though I rarely watch Transformers is the part where Optimus transforming because in the film, there's not a single scene of Optimus transforming which makes it very unbearable for the viewers and the fans as well as Optimum is a character who to me seems like a character that at least the vast majority of fans like.  Another reason why I also find this one of the most least interesting parts is because generally in any films depending on what goes on, at least the vast majority of the time we would expect to see something change from one thing to another and here we barely see anything at all.

In my opinion, I think this can have a great impact on my work because it is something that I would potentially find very interesting to see and honestly Transformers is something I hardly watch and this may also be something that if I watch more of the better I will be able to understand more and I may even have a better idea of the storyline as well.  Overall this will definitely be something that interests me.

If there is one thing that I would like to recreate practically as an experiment, it would be the shot of how Optimus Prime turns from being a leader into a jet as this is something that the audience would definitely feel intrigued to watch and will certainly be something I find very interesting to know a bit more about for sure.

Sketches for FMP magazine  9/5/25

These are some sketches I did for my FMP which is based on transformation and I've decided to create a magazine based on how a tadpole transforms into a frog.  One thing I realised is that in the sketches, which is just a rough idea of what I think my magazine may look like although this isn't my final design.  I know that for some of the ideas I came up with for example, with my main page, I decided to add a bit of text but in doing so, I think that realistically I will try to reduce the content and text that I include as I know that I will not be able to have about 8 pages of text in my magazine as I know it will be a lot of information and I know that I will not have the time to write this much.

This is a template I may potentially go for as I think that it is quite basic and I also think that they've also used a good amount of text as well and in much detail as well and it will also be something that I can manage as well.  One other thing I noticed as well as the text are the images and that there aren't that many images either as this means it is quite simple as well, so therefore, I think I might go with this template despite the fact that I didn't find it myself.
